Jillian Newman is the gorgeous model that purchased this corset from my etsy shop for her photoshoot with 666 Photography. Nice work Jillian! And Gayla...GaYLA! What a photographer she is! She has a BFA from the University of Texas in Austin and specializes in high concept photoshoots with a retro/vintage feel. She makes most of the costumes, creates and designs the sets and does most of the styling. Genious!

Wow! This is exciting! This corset that I made for an up and coming model, Rachel Cook, (she was just signed on with ElITE!) is featured in the online magazine VivaLaModa in the May 2009 issue on page 72. It turns out the corset was still too big for Rachel so it is still available in my etsy shop. There are quite a few other Etsy artists in the magazine also. Them girls can sing! I am also from Seattle but I never met or saw them in concert. I did meet Howard Leese on the movie set of "Singles" years ago. He was nice and very personable. Alice in Chains was playing on the stage for the movie.

I recently met Nina on Etsy and her artwork is very cool. I am mesmorized by this angel! It symbolizes Protection, Strength and Beauty. I have had a few run ins with a couple. I am so excited to meet her and couldn't wait to post her artwork.

The materials on this corset are all vintage with the exception of the purple trim at the top and the base corset itself. I really like old asian materials and design. There is quite a bit of torn up lace and frayed items with rough edges. It is in antique "piecrust" molded frame with foo foo backing. The back has more frayed ruffles, and old brooch and a black tassle along with more of the faded antique asian fabric.

Nine Needles!! That is how many broke off my machine during this creative process. I was so pissed by the end you would never know by looking at this delicate and sweet looking corset. I'm not usually a cusser but sometimes I verbally abuse my sewing machine. I feel much better afterwards. ;) This is a 34 c and is new to etsy. I enjoyed seeking out the treasures for this one. Most of these vintage materials were purchases at Whimsical Whites. See link under my favs!

TIM PAGE Brilliant!!!

My husband and I went on a short trip to see our family and this was the first time we saw Tim Page's art (Tim is married to my husbands cousin, Jennifer) Their home is a creative refuge for themselves and their 3 fantastic kids. Jennifer plays the violin and is a musical genious. :) Roman is an excellent athlete, Rebekah is a creative painter, designer and book maker, and Gabe is a smart, studious boy with lots of talents. We weren't there long enough to take in all the wonders of the family and all that were there but it was a very inspiring day. I love everyone I met. I gravitate towards the creative so don't fell like I'm leaving anyone out on purpose. Tim needs recognition for his art. My and Mark's hope is that he will put his art on ETSY for starters. I don't know if these pictures do them justice but his procedures are very precise and dynamic. The pictures here are of a self portrait. He is wearing a beret and it is a self portrait so kinda "cliche" so he says. It is brilliant! The image is made up of small painted squares (similar to pointilism)with predetermined values inputed into his invented computer program. (Sorry this may not be his way of explaining it- I was so excited I was having a hard time taking it all in. My hope for him is that he can quit his day job!! :) Big Hugs and blessings to all of the family. XOXOXO

Babooshka Bustier!

I made this corset with real rabbit fur and winter white velvet. My sister made one similar to it a long time ago and it has always stuck in my head so I thought i would try one similar but longer. White rabbit fur fell into my lap, so to speak, s I figured now was the time. The one she made had really nice gold trim with white and gold brocade fabric. It was beautiful! It sold out of Astro Wares art gallery many years ago. My sister, Izabella (computer name) is quite a talented artist but rootbound like so many of us. She has sooooo much creativity inside but doubts it just like most of us artist do. She has started drawing again so I will post a sample of her work above. Make sure you check out her blog...she has a gift of bringing people together and inspiring others. She is the best sister evah!!! My friend, Ivy Long, said it reminds her of Dr. Zhivago!

Vintage French Boudoir Doll

I found this doll and she was a mess! With a little love and care she is as sweet as can be. I've never had an interest in dolls but this one is special...so much history. It has recently sold out of my ETSY shop. To me, it is symbolic how God can take a person with a rough road or a wandering path behind them and make it into something beautiful when it looked as though there was no hope!

There is a story behind this... I made this last summer and listed it in my Etsy shop. I was going to name it "Love Rules the Kingdom" and something told me not to just call it "Love Rules". Then I went in to my store to remove a portion of an art piece/ corset because it was not selling and I was thinking it just wasn't working. So I went in to go make adjustments and remove part of it and my computer went haywire. It would not let me make the changes! Within a few days, Courtney Love Cobain came along and generously purchased the crown, the corset and some other items. They were definitely meant to be hers!! She is a sweetheart and a great customer. I am grateful!

This was recently added to Etsy. This is a long corset and on the lower right I sewed an angel, some rhinestones and another pin down by the hip. I really enjoyed making this one since It is setting me off in a new direction.

I had some trouble getting a good shot of this one. This is also a long corset. The material is a silky background with raised velvet designs. I ended up adding some black lace down each side. The broach has a little black in it.

Vintage Dress

I found a vintage dress with pearls, rhinestones and beads all around the neck and hem. So I applied it to this corset along with black velvet, trims and lace along the sides. The centerpiece is an antique rhinestone earing.

I met someone through Etsy who wanted to put some bustiers in her gift shop at The Banker's Suite in Astoria, Oregon. It looks like a very nice place right on the ocean. I am so excited about it! Here are a few that she is putting in her store. This one is light blue with velvet with a little champaign colored silk.

The story behind this picture still makes my hair stand up! Years ago, my sweet friend from work, Diane, who is also a spectacular jewelry designer; asked me to do a drawing of her great danes. Oh how GREAT they are. I have never been around danes before. I love dogs but I am usually uneasy around them because one of my friends almost had her face ripped off by a dog when we were little. Anyway, I drove to Diane's house to meet with her and the subjects. I knocked on the door and the loudest most frightful barking emminated from behind the front door. My body went cold and I got a very dizzy. I wanted to run to my car or up the nearest tree. There was a glass screen door and then a heavy wooden door. Diane opened the first door and one of the dogs stood up on its hind legs and put his two front paws on the screen door as he was still barking. He was about 6 feet tall. He was staring at me dead in the eye...FACE to FACE. He looked like the scariest creature I had ever seen. (He's the one on the left in the picture). I can't find their names but I have them written down some where in my art records. They were the most loving dogs. Very intelligent and you could probabaly ride them. This was one of my most memorable experiences doing portraits. I have been less afraid of dogs ever since. I don't know for sure (ha) but I think I wrote "two beautiful dogs" in Japanese down the left side of the picture. Maybe my sister in law could interpret it for me. I regret not having a better plan for the blanket but otherwise this is my favorite.

I painted this colored pencil portrait for the most beautiful dentist I've ever met. She sure loved her dogs. I really enjoyed drawing this picture. They had such personality and as you can see, they are best friends. I would like to start doing portraits again. This photo makes them look a little blue but in the actual drawing they were crisp and white.

This necklace is made from an antique silver earring. The center is onyx. I glazed a picture of a glowing mother on the onyx. There is a crystal bead from an old rosary just above the pendant and the chain alternates with pearly and crystal like beads. really like this one. I wore it a few times. People seem to like this one.
